FEATURES
Frame MMC’s CX1 series press frames are a rigid one-piece steel fabricated design that offers superior strength combined with exceptional resistance to torsion, deflection, and vibration. All MMC presses are put through rigorous FEA (Finite Element Analysis) testing to ensure superior strength and resistance to deflection in the press frame structure. Additional Titan CX1 frame features: - Machined to allow for strain links. - Drilled provision for Knock Out mechanism - Able to accept Air Cushions - Pre-drilled and tapped holes to accept Light Curtain “Goal Post” The CX1 model is designed to accept an optional bolster plate mounted pneumatic die cushion. The optional die cushion can be provided at an additional cost.
Drive Train CFG’s drive train features a low inertia design with the gears running in a totally enclosed oil reservoir. To provide our customer’s superior strength and durability, all gears are manufactured from forged steel in our own gear shop. This guarantees the accuracy and consistency of the components in all of our presses. The gear teeth are finished ground and hardened to provide close running tolerances, prolonged life, and a smooth quiet operation. The one (1) counter-rotating crankshafts are forged from high-carbon steel; precision machined, and polished ground. The crankshaft main bearings and pitman bushings are custom machined from bronze alloy. The flywheel is V-belt driven from a Variable Frequency Drive.
High-Performance Wet Clutch and Brake CFG wet type air actuated combination clutch and brake delivers rated torque at relatively low air pressure, resulting in reduced lining wear and air consumption. The life of clutch and the brake linings is extended by effective heat dissipation resulting from linings running in an enclosed oil bath. In addition, low moment of inertia significantly reduces lining wear. Higher single stroke rates and faster stopping times are achieved with this wet clutch design.
Automatic Recirculating Oil Lubrication System Anti-friction bearings, sleeve bushings and slide gibs are lubricated by an electronically monitored automatic recirculating and filtered oil system interlocked with the press control system. A lubrication system fault will cause an immediate press shutdown with a fault indication on the operator interface.
Powered Die Height Adjustment & Electronic Die Height Indicator All MMC presses feature motorized die height adjustment. A selector switch, used in conjunction with Up/Down controls allows the operator to quickly and accurately change die height settings. Limit switches prevent the connection screw from being adjusted beyond its specified range. An electronic digital die height indicator is mounted on the front of the slide for the operator’s convenience. This indicator displays the current die height (bottom of slide to top of bolster) in millimeters in 0.01 mm (.0004”) increments.
Slide and Slide Guidance CFG’s slide is designed and manufactured of high-grade box type casted iron--offering exceptional strength with maximum resistance to torsion, deflection, and vibration. The slide guiding is provided by our six (6)-point full-length box type gibs, providing full control of front to back and left to right alignment with a high degree of accuracy throughout the full stroke of the slide. The slide plate is supplied with JIC standard T-Slots as a standard feature. (Refer to CX-series catalog for standard slide plate T-slot pattern). CFG’s slide connection features the ball type socket in the connection assemblies. Ball type socket connection assemblies eliminate the high maintenance costs of wrist pin type connections and with near zero-clearance oil film, have proven to require less maintenance while maintaining slide parallelism and extending die life.
Air Counterbalance System The weight of the slide, connection housing assemblies, upper die, etc., is offset by an adjustable dual cylinder air counterbalance system. The air counterbalance feature reduces the main motor power consumption on the upstroke and increases the life expectancy of the crankshaft bearings, connection and slide components. A regulator with gauge, pressure switch and air tank are integral components in the counterbalance system. A metal plate is affixed to the machine showing proper pressure settings according to upper die weight.
MMC Automatic Oil Lubrication System for Air Counterbalance Cylinders A separate oil pump is utilized to provide oil to the counterbalance cylinders at the proper time.
Hydraulic Overload Protection CFG’s hydraulic overload system is included as a standard feature and is built into the slide assembly. The overload system is completely automatic and provides press protection from damage due to excessive tonnage being applied in the die area. The fast-acting pressure relief system relieves the pressure of a high tonnage overload in a few milliseconds, stopping the press immediately. The CFG ball-type socket connection assembly helps make this possible. The system can be quickly and easily reset by inching the slide back to T.D.C to reactivate the pump, which will automatically build the hydraulic pressure to the original factory setting to resume normal operation.
Slide Face Machining The slide face is furnished with JIC standard t-slots. Please refer to the product brochure for standard t-slot pattern. Contact Minster for special machining requirements.
Clamp Cap with mechanical locking pin.
Bolster Machining The bolster is furnished with JIC standard t-slots. Please refer to the product brochure for standard t-slot pattern. Contact Minster for special machining requirements.
Die Safety Block One (1) non-adjustable die safety block with holder is included and is supplied with a plug and receptacle. When the die block is removed from the receptacle and the plug is disconnected, power is removed from the control circuits to the dual safety air valve and to the main drive motor. This prevents inadvertent operation of the press until the die safety block is replaced and the plug is connected. The standard die safety block height is equal to the distance between the bottom of the slide and top of the bolster, with stroke up and adjustment at mid-point.
Vibration Isolation Mounts include vibration dampening, leveling capabilities, and height adjustment features.
MMC PC1 Clutch/Brake & Electrical Control System The Mitsubishi PLC-based press control is the standard control for MMC gap frame presses. This control platform is designed for easy operation, simple troubleshooting, long-term reliability and ready integration with compatible components for tonnage monitoring, safeguarding dual channel inputs, automation control and more. To ensure ready access to spare parts, critical components such as pushbuttons, switches, etc., are sourced from major manufacturers. Some of the many features of the MMC-PC1 system include:
Articulated Control Arm Mounting The operator control will be mounted on a heavy duty articulated arm to allow optimal positioning of the control panel.
Press Mounted Run Station
Programmable Limit Switch Eight (8) output programmable limit switch.
Die Protection Eight (8) die protection inputs – NPN type standard, mounted at the front of the press (Local Source)
(2) Off Die Area Lights
Hinged & Bolted Rear Lower Guard
Bolted Flywheel Guard Pneumatic System One (1) air blow-off port is furnished with the press for ejection of parts, etc. The timing of the operation is controlled by assigning PLS outputs as required. In addition, a constant-on quick connection is provided. The press pneumatic system consists of regulator valves with gauges for the clutch/brake unit, overload system, and counterbalance system. Main air inlet includes air separator and lock-out/tag-out style shut off valve. |
