This is a Butech Copper Rod Scrap Coil Processing system.  This unit was made back in 2005.

The following is a general description of operation:
The system was used for solid copper rod to be threaded in a similar manner to their existing system under the platform. With the power off and “locked out”, an operator would load a coil of scrap copper rod below the feed funnel and manually thread the leading end of the coil up through the feed funnel, over the idler roller and into the feed mechanism.  The operator would then exit the processing area, closing safety gates and enabling the system to “power up”.   Utilizing a pushbutton stand outside of the processing area, the operator would “jog” the feed mechanism to pinch and drive the rod into the scrap chopper head,  where it would be chopped into pieces of about 3.75” long,  at a speed of up to 1500 feet per minute (variable speed).  The cut pieces would exit the chopper, directed through a discharge chute into a scrap container supplied by the customer.
